The Great Walled Kitchen Gardens of England

Now that fall is here I love to stack up some wonderful books to "get lost in"...... I have a special spot by the window ..........
and I especially love this book I purchased about 18 years ago which takes me to England...... Nora Carey has written a book all about the wonderful walled gardens of England and how to they preserved the fruits and vegetables from those gardens. I was even surprised about a recipe for Rowanberries and Crabapples. Since I have a mountain ash in my yard I was interested in this recipe. The fruit from the mountain ash is eaten mostly by birds - the rowanberry.

The red berries are so lovely.......rowanberries.

The photos in this book show great English castles and cottages and how their gardens are protected by stone walls around them.
I would love to take a tour of these gardens......
